Jonah Paquette, Psy.D.
Psychologist, Author, and International Speaker
Greetings and welcome to my website! Here you can find information about my work, my upcoming speaking schedule, and my writing.
I'm a licensed psychologist, author, and international speaker, specializing in the science of well-being. I provide workshops, keynote talks, media appearances, and consultation on the science of happiness. It's my passion to disseminate the science of well-being to a broad audience, including schools, businesses, professional organizations, and health professionals. Whether you are an individual or organization, it would be my sincere pleasure to work with you!
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where I lived until my early twenties. With much of my family remaining there, and growing up a die-hard Knicks and Yankees fan, it was difficult leaving the Big Apple. But like many people, I felt drawn to the West Coast, where new adventures awaited. After graduating college at Columbia University in 2004, I moved to California to start graduate school at the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium in Palo Alto. For the next five years, I had the privilege of training in a variety of clinical settings, including VA hospitals, college counseling centers, and community mental health agencies. I also had the good fortune of being mentored by some of the leading psychiatrists and psychologists in the field.
Although the training I received during these years was invaluable, I couldn't help but feel that there was something missing from mainstream mental health approaches. Namely, there was (and remains) an incredible emphasis on illness, pathology, and suffering. But what about the other side of the coin? During graduate school, I began to supplement my traditional training by learning more about wellness, happiness, and psychological well-being. I stumbled across the burgeoning field of "positive psychology," which studies these topics as well as things like character strengths, virtue, and happiness. This interest soon developed into my passion, and remains so to this day.
Today, I wear two hats in my professional life. First, I am the Assistant Regional Director of Mental Health Training at a large HMO in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I help oversee the mental health training programs across twenty medical centers in Northern California. And second, I provide trainings, consultations, keynotes, and seminars on topics related to wellness, happiness, and reaching your full potential. In 2015, I released my first book, entitled Real Happiness, a self-help book outlining seven proven paths to happiness and well-being. More recently in 2018, I released by second self-help booked, entitled The Happiness Toolbox, which provides an array of tools and handouts for both readers and practitioners alike. In June 2020, my third book was released. Entitled "Awestruck," it focuses on the science of awe and how we can cultivate more awe and wonder in our lives.

Over the past few years, I've had the opportunity to make frequent media appearances to discuss issues related to happiness, well-being, positive psychology, and awe. This has included appearances on the radio, television, and podcasts, as well as having articles published through popular online and print outlets such as mindbodygreen, Conscious Lifestyle magazine, and the Psychotherapy Networker Magazine.

Presentations for General Audiences
While I love giving presentations to professional audiences, one of my true professional passions is to deliver seminars, talks, and keynotes to the public at large. Whether you're a company, organization, or school, I'm happy to come and present on the science of happiness, and teach your audience or group more about the benefits of well-being.
Whether you're a company looking to gain an edge in the marketplace, or an organization looking to improve the well-being of its employees, I'm thrilled to offer consultation on applications of positive psychology in the workplace. Increasing happiness and well-being in the workplace has been linked to a host of benefits, including improved physical and emotional health, enhanced immune system functioning, increased compassion and social relationships, and improved cognitive functioning.
